Career intelligence is not a product that can be built by an algorithm or assembled from a Western framework. It requires someone who has spent decades inside Indian organisations, watching what actually drives people and what actually derails them. That is what this assessment is built on.

Professional Background
The Career Behind the Assessment

Everything in the RH Factor Career Intelligence assessment comes from direct practice. Not from textbooks. Not from consulting decks. From 37 years of hiring people, developing them, watching them succeed and fail, and understanding the gap between where people end up and where they were actually built to go.

1988 to 1994
Indian Army
Armoured Corps

Commissioned Officer, Indian Army

Short Service Commission, Armoured Corps. Six years of leadership in one of the most demanding people-management environments in the world. The Army teaches you something that no business school can: that the quality of a person's character and thinking under pressure is the only thing that ultimately determines outcomes. That insight has shaped every assessment instrument in the RH Factor suite.

1995 to 2015
Large Indian Corporates
BFSI, MNCs, Manufacturing

Senior HR Leadership: Group CHRO Roles

Twenty years as a senior HR leader across India's most demanding corporate environments -- BFSI, MNCs, large Indian conglomerates, manufacturing, and high-growth businesses. As Group CHRO of large organisations, the responsibility was not just hiring and payroll. It was building the people infrastructure that companies grow on. Assessment, succession, culture, organisation design, leadership development -- at scale, under board scrutiny, with real consequences.

2010 to 2018
Large Indian Corporate
CEO Role

Chief Executive Officer

Transitioned from CHRO to CEO of a large Indian corporate -- a relatively rare move that reflects the depth of business understanding that serious HR leadership builds. Running a P&L, managing a board, making resource allocation decisions, and leading an organisation through growth and turbulence gave a perspective on career development that is impossible to acquire any other way. When this assessment tells a student that a particular career path requires a certain kind of thinking, it is grounded in having watched those careers play out from the executive chair.

Qualifications
The Science Behind the Practice

Practitioner experience and academic qualification together are what make a psychometric instrument trustworthy. Experience without science produces opinion. Science without experience produces instruments nobody can actually use. This assessment is built on both.

๐Ÿงช

Qualified Psychometrician

Formal qualification in psychometrics -- the science of designing, validating, and interpreting psychological measurement instruments. The six dimensions in the Career Compass assessment, the item construction, the scoring architecture, and the band interpretations are all grounded in psychometric science, not intuition.

๐Ÿง

Organisational Psychologist

Trained in organisational psychology -- the applied science of how people think, behave, and perform in work and institutional environments. This is what allows the career mapping in this assessment to go beyond "what do you like" to "what are you actually built for and why."

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

Indian Army Officer

Commissioned officer, Armoured Corps, Short Service Commission. The Army's approach to leadership assessment -- character under pressure, not performance under ideal conditions -- runs through every instrument in the RH Factor suite. Including this one.

๐Ÿข

Former Group CHRO

Chief Human Resources Officer of large Indian corporates across BFSI, MNCs, manufacturing, and high-growth organisations. 32 years of corporate HR leadership at the most senior level -- hiring, assessing, and developing thousands of people across every industry.

๐Ÿ“Š

42 Proprietary Instruments

The RH Factor Human Capital Intelligence Platform contains 42 validated psychometric instruments across 10 assessment families -- built entirely from scratch as proprietary IP. The Career Compass School instrument is the first designed specifically for students and early career professionals.

๐Ÿฅ

Healthcare and NABH Specialist

Founder of RH Healthcare Consulting -- a specialist practice covering healthcare HR and NABH accreditation for Indian hospitals and healthcare organisations. An additional domain of practice that informs the healthcare career pathways in the Career Compass assessment.

Why This Assessment Exists
The Problem This Solves

After 32 years of corporate HR leadership and thousands of hiring decisions, one pattern is impossible to ignore. A very large number of the people who come through the door -- even the talented ones -- are in the wrong career. Not slightly wrong. Fundamentally wrong. Engineer who should have been a doctor. Finance professional who was built to teach. Senior manager who had the instincts of an entrepreneur but was never pointed in that direction at 15.

The cost of that mismatch is enormous. To the individual -- years spent in a career that does not fit, compensation that feels like settlement, and a persistent sense that something important is missing. To their families -- who funded an education and a career pathway without the information they needed to make a better choice. To organisations -- who inherit the downstream consequences of those misaligned career decisions in the form of disengagement, attrition, and underperformance.

Most of what passes for career counselling in India at the school level is either a generic interest survey built on Western data, a coaching institute's pitch for JEE or NEET, or a well-meaning but unqualified school counsellor doing their best with limited tools. None of that is good enough for a decision this consequential.

The RH Factor Career Intelligence assessment exists because that gap needs to be closed with something that is actually rigorous -- built on validated psychometric science, grounded in Indian career realities, and backed by someone who has spent decades watching career decisions play out at the highest levels of Indian corporate life.

How It Is Built
The Methodology

Four principles govern every instrument in the RH Factor suite, including the Career Compass School assessment.

1
Measure what matters, not what is easy to measure

Interest surveys are easy to build and easy to game. This assessment measures six psychometric dimensions -- analytical aptitude, verbal strength, spatial and creative thinking, people orientation, investigative curiosity, and structured thinking -- because these are the dimensions that actually predict fit with specific career clusters. The student who says they are interested in medicine but scores low on investigative curiosity and high on social boldness may be better suited to healthcare administration or medical communications than clinical practice. That distinction matters.

2
Build for India, not for export

Most career assessment tools used in Indian schools are adapted from Western frameworks built on data from American or European student populations. The career clusters, the pathways, the institutional references, and the examination system in India are fundamentally different. This assessment was built from the ground up for Indian students -- CBSE, ICSE, and state boards; JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA Foundation, NDA; IITs, NITs, NLUs, IISERs, and the full ecosystem of Indian higher education.

3
Be honest about the future

Every career path in this assessment carries an AI disruption risk indicator. This is not fearmongering -- it is the minimum honesty owed to a 14-year-old who is making a decision that will shape the next 40 years of their working life. Pointing a student toward a career that will be substantially automated within 10 to 15 years, without flagging that risk, is a failure of the counselling function. This assessment does not do that.

4
The practitioner is accountable for the output

The Advanced Report is not generated by an algorithm and delivered as a PDF. It is prepared by Capt. Rahul Sharma personally -- a written interpretation of the student's profile, a cross-dimension pattern analysis, a secondary stream deep-dive, a 5-year education roadmap, and a college shortlist. His name is on it. That accountability is the difference between a psychometric product and a psychometric practice.

The assessment takes 25 to 30 minutes. The clarity it provides lasts considerably longer.
